Experience review 11

14/12 - 18/12/09 Week 11

I put all Cilantro's output files that I had prepared last week into a CD this morning. As I handed in the CD and visuals, I was spotted by Mrs director and she asked me to send her the very last Comic Corner front door design. So the next thing I did is email-ing her the job that I had quite a while ago. I proceeded doing output for Cilantro 2nd exhibition booth backdrops for the rest of the morning. There was a pair of sided stage backdrop that deals with types came to me after lunch. I was asked to put certain phrases on it and it was not that hard to deal with actually. A few amendments (about boldness of type, alignment) was made for this, although I thought that wasn't really need to be amended. Maybe some small little thing like this could give a better image for this company I guess. After this, I received amendments for Propel logo design and I did it. And the I output the Cilantro 2nd into a CD and handed in it together with visuals. 1 thing to remind about the meeting of that day, the director was asking for the T-shirt design and he urged for it so that it can be done soon ( before I done my intern).

I was not in mood doing the T-shirt. Maybe it was left over a long time which made me fed up of it. But I had to somehow do at least a little bit (struggling). I was recalling what the director asked for the design. The very last time he mentioned he wants something like this (then he showed me a T-shirt design in a magazine). I started doing the design in the illustrator and was applying the design into my design. And I was suddenly thought of some references I browsed in DA. And then the next I realized myself doing quite smooth on the design. Half in the way of designing, I was interrupted by a call from Mrs director when she told me there were some problems on the size labeling on the door design. So I had to revise back the size amended it and send it. Another order from her was to superimpose the logo I did for propel onto the 3D plan. It was rather hard to do and it was quite last minute order. Guess what she replied when I asked why it was so last minute, the answer from her was " I thought these are quite easy to do"-.-"

A new project came to me this morning. It was from Genting. This time they wanna do signboard for counter and some directories. It wasn't that hard and I managed to finished it that evening also. As usual, an output CD and a set of visual are needed before submitting. I was reminded by the salesperson to minimize the usage of printing for visual and if fact I did, but he said that still can be minimized. After that, I proceeded my way doing T-shirt design. My idea was there and I just need some time to draw it out.

Today is about progressing the T-Shirt design and I was so please to see how the idea was being drawn out. I never thought I could progressed it so fast asit had already left over so long and usually I couldn't do a good job on this. I did the design in a quite graphical style (drew some cartoon-liked UFO sucking on the score ball and a 3D liked logo) and the color combination are between magenta and purple. Besides, I applied some floral, curvy and some ink drops patterns for the background. I think it goes well with that color gradient because they looks young and energetic.

I decided to go and show the T-shirt design to the director by myself. I was quite anxious if he was not happy with the design. But my worry was not necessary when I realized he likes the design! He mentioned especially the logo and how the types are being placed. As a designer, to fufill a client's requirement (please them ) is one of the successes I think. But yet there are some amendments from him which he wants me to use the UFO booth design of his company instead the cartoon one that I had drawn.
